Restore.

In this piece, ‘Restore,’ I used sound samples recording the daily sounds from my dorm, classrooms, and cafeteria and my vocal by Shure microphone. The piece mainly focuses on the sounds or noises from every perspective of our life; perhaps in ordinary times, we always attribute them to the "noise of life," but perhaps in music creation, they can also be art's protagonist.

The sound samples use diverse and different audio fx such as Reverb, sample reverse, space design, Expander, delay, sidechain, etc. For the electronic instruments, the piece has four different types: one uses recorded sound in the sampler and adjusts the length or frequency to make it sound like an instrument with pitch, the other one is an E-synthesizer VCV Rack and No input-mixing table, the last one is 10 seconds white noise sample, I used it and adjusted the low- end and high-end to make it sounds like a plug-in instrument synth chord.

As a relatively atonal track, I did not want to set my piece into a strict context or tone; that’s how I built up a VCV Rack synthesizer with no input mixing table to explore different kinds of sounds, frequencies, and textures.
